Dr. Culiat was recognized by the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) as one of twelve outstanding alumnae, receiving the Gawad Lagablab award during rites on Nov. 19, 2011. The PSHS is a specialized public high school system and an attached agency of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). PSHS students are scholars because they are gifted in the sciences and mathematics. The Gawad Lagablab awards are given every 3 years to recognize PSHS alumni excellence in their chosen fields of expertise and contribution to national development.

Dr. McLaurin joined Kennewick First Presbyterian Church as their Memorial Lecturer during the weekend of Oct. 28-30, 2011. The topic for the weekend was “Bioethics in Sickness and in Health.” In addition to delivering her lectures, Dr. McLaurin enjoyed gathering with a group of senior scientists from the area and discussing how they perceive the relationships between faith and science. We look forward to formal future collaboration with a number of these scientists!
